Getting to the Office from Cypress
If you live in Cypress, you do not have a fellowship-trained joint replacement surgeon on your own side of the county line — most of the orthopedic options nearby are general practices. That is the main reason patients from the residential neighborhoods around Cypress College make the short trip to Long Beach: to see a surgeon who does hip and knee replacement, and the harder revision cases, as his full-time focus rather than one of many procedures.
The good news for Cypress patients is the geography. The office at 2760 Atlantic Ave sits just off the I-405, and the run from Cypress is a clean freeway shot down the 22 to the 405 with no slow surface-street stretch in between. From most of Cypress it is about a 15-minute drive outside of rush hour — close enough that a consultation, your follow-up visits, and surgery day at a Long Beach hospital or surgery center all stay genuinely convenient.
Dr. Zalikha completed an adult reconstruction fellowship at Stanford Medicine and focuses on hip and knee replacement, including complex revision surgery, the direct anterior approach for hip replacement, and robotic-assisted techniques. The directions below get you door-to-door from Cypress.
- From Cypress (about 15 minutes): Take Valley View St or Walker St south to the 22 West (Garden Grove Freeway), then merge onto the I-405 North toward Long Beach. Exit at Atlantic Avenue and continue south.
- Finding the office: The office is at 2760 Atlantic Ave, on Atlantic Avenue between Willow St and Wardlow Rd, about 1.5 miles south of the I-405 Atlantic Avenue exit.
- Coming a different way: If you head west on the 91 (Artesia Freeway) first, it also has an Atlantic Ave exit to the north; from there continue south on Atlantic Ave to the office.
- Parking: Free parking is available in the lot adjacent to the building.
Where Your Surgery Would Happen
MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center
A full-service medical center in Long Beach equipped for inpatient joint replacement surgery. Patients who stay overnight after hip or knee replacement recover here with dedicated nursing support and inpatient physical therapy.
Surgery Center of Long Beach
An outpatient surgery center designed for same-day surgical procedures. Eligible patients undergoing outpatient hip replacement or outpatient knee replacement have their surgery here and return home the same day.
DISC Sports & Spine Center at Marina del Rey
On the Westside in Marina del Rey, DISC Sports & Spine Center is a premier outpatient surgery center with one of the most technologically advanced surgical suites in Southern California, designed for minimally invasive, same-day procedures. It gives patients across greater Los Angeles another setting where Dr. Zalikha operates.
For a Cypress patient, having both Long Beach options in one place matters: straightforward hip and knee replacements can often be done on an outpatient basis so you are recovering at home the same day, while the full hospital is right there as backup if your health history or the complexity of the surgery calls for an overnight stay. Both Long Beach facilities are a short, familiar drive down the I-405 from Cypress.
Why Cypress Patients Travel a Few Minutes for Fellowship-Trained Care
Most Cypress patients have a general orthopedic surgeon closer to home. They choose the short drive to Long Beach for a few specific reasons — the kind of focused experience that matters most when you are deciding whether, and how, to replace a hip or knee.
Fellowship-level specialization
Dr. Zalikha completed an adult reconstruction fellowship at Stanford Medicine, training specifically in hip and knee replacement and revision surgery. That is a narrower, deeper focus than a general orthopedic surgeon who treats the whole body.
Revision and complex-case experience
Failed replacements, infections, and fractures around an implant need a surgeon trained for them. Dr. Zalikha managed these cases during fellowship and handles them regularly — the same expertise behind the knee replacement and hip replacement care he provides for Long Beach-area patients.
Modern technique and technology
Dr. Zalikha performs hip replacement through the direct anterior approach and uses robotic-assisted techniques for both hip and knee procedures. You can read the clinical detail on the total knee replacement and total hip replacement pages.
Second opinions before you commit
If you have been told you need a joint replacement, it is reasonable to want a second perspective from a fellowship-trained specialist first. Cypress patients can start that review from home through a virtual second opinion before deciding to drive in.
It is genuinely close
A 15-minute freeway drive from Cypress keeps the whole process convenient — the first consultation, your follow-up visits, and surgery day at a Long Beach hospital or surgery center all stay within easy reach of home, with free parking when you arrive.
What to Expect at Your First Visit
- A conversation about your symptoms. Dr. Zalikha asks about your pain, your limitations, and what you want to get back to.
- A physical examination. He checks your range of motion, strength, stability, and how you walk.
- A review of your imaging. X-rays are usually taken in the office if you do not have recent ones, and Dr. Zalikha reviews them with you.
- A discussion of your options. He explains the diagnosis and walks through the choices, starting with nonsurgical approaches when they make sense.
- A clear plan. You leave knowing the recommended next step, whether that is therapy, an injection, more imaging, or surgical planning.
If you have had previous joint surgery elsewhere, bringing operative reports and implant records is helpful.
Cypress patients can request an appointment with Dr. Zalikha or call (562) 362-5024. Prefer to start from home? A virtual second opinion is available.
