Joint replacement is one of the most successful procedures in modern medicine, but outcomes depend on more than what happens in the operating room—patients who understand their condition, prepare for surgery, and follow a structured recovery plan consistently do better. The educational content on this site exists to help with exactly that, and this page explains how it is created: who writes and reviews it, where its clinical information comes from, and how it is kept current.

Who Writes and Reviews Our Content

Every educational resource on this site is written or reviewed by Dr. Leo Zalikha, MD, to ensure accuracy. Dr. Zalikha is a Stanford fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in the surgical and nonsurgical care of hip and knee conditions, from straightforward primary hip and knee replacements to complex revision surgery.

Sourcing Standards

When a page or post cites clinical statistics—success rates, complication rates, or recovery benchmarks—those figures are drawn from peer-reviewed literature in PubMed-indexed journals, national joint registries, AAOS patient resources, and government sources such as CMS and the FDA. Blog posts carry numbered reference lists with direct links to the sources cited. We distinguish established evidence from emerging or mixed evidence in plain language, so you know which is which.

How Content Is Updated

Content is reviewed periodically and updated when clinical guidance or published figures change. Blog posts display the date they were last updated.

What We Don’t Do

We do not publish sponsored content, and Dr. Zalikha does not receive payment from implant companies to use their products—he recommends the implants and techniques he would choose for himself or his own family. The educational material on this site is for educational purposes only and is not a substitute for an examination—see our medical disclaimer. Individual symptoms and conditions vary, so please bring questions about your own care to your visit.
